Privacy Policy

Wayfinder Developments Society (“Wayfinder”, “we”) is a not-for-profit based in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through wayfinderdevelopments.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Information we collect

• Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), organization, the topic you choose and your message.
• Emails and calls: anything you send us directly.
• Website use: information about how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, collected through cookies and similar tools (see “Cookies and analytics” below).

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and follow up on conversations you’ve started with us.
• To understand how the website is used and improve it.
• To protect the website from spam and abuse.

We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t use it for unrelated marketing. If we’d ever like to add you to a mailing list, we’ll ask first.

Who we share it with

Your information is seen only by Wayfinder staff and board members who need it to respond to you. We also rely on trusted service providers who handle data on our behalf to run the website and email:

• Pantheon (website hosting)
• Brevo and Microsoft 365 (email)
• Google (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and reCAPTCHA)

Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people find and use the site, and Google reCAPTCHA to block spam on our forms. Both use cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, and then delete it securely.

How we protect it

The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and form submissions are stored in the website’s database, where only authorized Wayfinder staff can sign in to see them.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our using it. Email info@wayfinderdevelopments.com or call 778-871-6621. We’ll respond within the time PIPA requires.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

We may update this policy as our work changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
